The Pontiac (Onuki) showing is located in the head waters of Jug Creek, approximately 3.2 kilometres north-northeast of Bunting Lake.

The area is underlain by marine sedimentary and volcanic rock units of the Permian to Triassic Cache Creek Complex. These are composed of undivided phyllite, siliceous phyllite, ribbon and massive chert, argillite, tuff, mafic volcanic rocks, serpentinite, limestone, and sandstone. Limestone, marble and calcareous sedimentary rocks of the Marble Canyon Formation occur as a narrow, northwest trending unit transecting the western portion of the area.

Locally, the dominant rock type is serpentinite, which has been intruded by felsite and veined with quartz. Within the felsite is a small amount of garnierite. In 2014, four samples (Q345532, Q345533, Q345519 and Q345520) assayed from 0.191 to 0.264 per cent nickel and 0.081 to 0.281 per cent chromium (Assessment Report 35257). Previously reported select samples assayed up to 0.1 per cent nickel (Annual Report 1929-C195).

In 2010, a program of geological mapping was performed on the area as the Onucki Gold property. In 2014, Westhaven Ventures completed a program of rock sampling, prospecting and 529 line-kilometres of airborne magnetic and radiometric surveys on the area as the Ben South property.
